An unusually bright and beautiful spinel.
We wanted to buy it on account of its uncommon color and popular shape/cut, but unfortunately it wasn’t eye clean due to a crystal underneath the table facet that was visible on close inspection as light reflected off it.
This meant that recutting turned from fixing basic cutting issues into grinding material away until the eye-visible inclusion was removed entirely, so the stone went from 1.64 to just 1.14.
It’s both well cut and eye clean now, which quality- and rarity-wise still puts it way above an included and badly cut stone of 1.64.
