While sharing its bluish tint with chrysoberyls from Madagascar and Tanzania, this rare vanadium-bearing chrysoberyl from Ratnapura, Sri Lanka simultaneously also looks looks quite different – it has a darker toned, more pronounced green hue than would usually be found in its African counterparts. It’s an excellent example of fine quality Ceylon green chrysoberyl.
We were pretty lucky to buy it as a chrysoberyl, since any chrysoberyl with a daylight color this pleasant usually gets sold as an alexandrite in the gem markets of Sri Lanka regardless of the degree of change it may (or may not) exhibit.
It has plenty of sharp brilliance when seen in person, but this didn’t unfortunately manage to translate that well into the images.
The spread is also excellent, as it looks like a carat face-up but doesn’t pay the price for it i.e. it has no window.

The only website where all gems get diligently color-matched and edited for accuracy until they reflect what the eye sees in diffused daylight outdoors.
Accurately represented in practical terms rather than abstract grading systems. When we say "eye clean", we really mean it as close up as the eyes can focus.
No commercial cuts here - all of our stones are recut to a high standard for added value, rarity and beauty.
