Like some other teal-blue spinels found in Ratnapura gem gravels, this is technically a gahnospinel – an intermediate mineral between spinel and gahnite characterized by its zinc content and higher than usual RI (in this stone’s case 1.740 vs. the spinel norm of 1.718).
The stone benefitted greatly from recutting. It looks pleasantly teal/blue in diffused daylight outdoors, shifting to greyish teal-blue in ambient daylight indoors, and darker greyish blue in low light.

The only website where all gems get diligently color-matched and edited for accuracy until they reflect what the eye sees in diffused daylight outdoors.
Accurately represented in practical terms rather than abstract grading systems. When we say "eye clean", we really mean it as close up as the eyes can focus.
No commercial cuts here - all of our stones are recut to a high standard for added value, rarity and beauty.
