From the moment we saw this stone we knew we couldn’t pass on it no matter what.
To find an intense, clean, pure pine green sapphire that:
– is intensely colored
– is bright and not even slightly dim like 99% of commercial green corundum
– is free of the usual grey overtone or and brown/black undertone so common to greens
– has the hue purity to light up as well as a good blue would
– has a strong bluish component while still appearing completely evenly green
– is entirely eye clean
– and unheated
… pretty much takes the stars to align. Needle in a haystack is an understatement at this point.
The color is beautiful: it’s rich, well saturated, clearly bluish and most importantly pure enough to look just like a blue or pink of comparable tone/saturation would, which for a green sapphire is absolutely exceptional.
The initial cut wasn’t too bad but it had significant damage on the girdle and a small window that was strategically placed to hide the yellow zoning. The mine owner who cut it as the crown piece of an entire jar full of green rough didn’t want to risk a yellow zone turning the entire stone yellowish, but we did risk it anyway because we couldn’t live with a window on a stone this rare and otherwise perfect.
Fortunately, it turned out just fine – its color didn’t change at all, but its cut became worthy of its other qualities.
A word on saturation: we don’t call any of our green sapphires vivid because green sapphires physically cannot be vivid in the same sense that tsavorites or tourmalines are. So intense is the highest grade we will ever assign to a green sapphire, but this stone is as saturated as it can be for its kind.
An exceptional stone overall.

The only website where all gems get diligently color-matched and edited for accuracy until they reflect what the eye sees in diffused daylight outdoors.
Accurately represented in practical terms rather than abstract grading systems. When we say "eye clean", we really mean it as close up as the eyes can focus.
No commercial cuts here - all of our stones are recut to a high standard for added value, rarity and beauty.
