A gentle pastel blue sapphire from the Kahawatta mines of Sri Lanka.
It’s always difficult to find round shaped blue sapphires since most sapphire rough isn’t naturally predisposed to that shape – so it comes as no surprise that they’re even rarer in 2 ct. + and unheated.
We had it recut from 2.88 carats because the culet was off, the table facet was unusually small and the pavilion step rows were completely misaligned. It has none of those issues anymore, and its brilliance and polish have also been improved.
The color shifts to some degree: it looks bright and brilliantly blue in its correct “default” graded state in diffused daylight outdoors, and becomes lighter and slightly greyish when viewed indoors later in the day as natural daylight fades.

The only website where all gems get diligently color-matched and edited for accuracy until they reflect what the eye sees in diffused daylight outdoors.
Accurately represented in practical terms rather than abstract grading systems. When we say "eye clean", we really mean it as close up as the eyes can focus.
No commercial cuts here - all of our stones are recut to a high standard for added value, rarity and beauty.
