Sapphires cut into pear shapes don’t usually light up well at all when it comes to more desirable, darker shades of blue – it’s the usual rule with pear cuts that either the base or the tip of the pear end up looking dark whenever the rest is lit. That is especially true the further down the tonal range one goes: so while it’s possible to find very light blues that light up relatively well, evenly lit royal blues are very few and far between in this shape.
This stone, unlike the vast majority of its “tonal peers”, lights up as evenly and fully as any pear cut blue sapphire possibly could. On top of that, it’s beautifully vivid and completely eye clean.
