It was cut from a 2.84 carat piece of rectangular rough found in a river in Ratnapura and - like almost all of our yellow sapphires - treated by the traditional blowpipe method of low-temperature heating over coals that has been employed by the Sri Lankan gem trade to improve sapphire color for millennia.
