A vividly saturated yellow sapphire in a very well made pear shape. Pears aren’t usually the brightest or most sparkly of cuts, but in this case the cut really does the color justice – it lights up well and looks bright and sparkly.
To reach this level of saturation, the rough was likely heated from a so-called ‘kowangu’ type of rough. ‘Kowangu’ is to yellow what ‘geuda’ is to blue sapphires – milky, whitish rough corundum that when heated produces some of the most saturated colors of the gem world.
Unlike ‘geuda’ type sapphires however, ‘kowangu’ yellows don’t require electrical furnaces or very high heat: they are commonly heated by placing a stone in a crucible and heating it the traditional way, by stoking coconut shell embers through a blowpipe.

The only website where all gems get diligently color-matched and edited for accuracy until they reflect what the eye sees in diffused daylight outdoors.
Accurately represented in practical terms rather than abstract grading systems. When we say "eye clean", we really mean it as close up as the eyes can focus.
No commercial cuts here - all of our stones are recut to a high standard for added value, rarity and beauty.
