A bright and brilliant brown chrysoberyl.
Its color is a mixture of brown, yellow, orange and even a hint of green. Chrysoberyls with these super-bright, clean looking hues are extremely rare without chatoyancy – plenty of drab, dull looking brown/yellow mixes are cut into faceted stones, but bright and lively colors of this type are almost always cut as cat’s eye cabochons rather than faceted.
On top of the color rarity factor, the stone is completely eye clean, very brilliant, and cut into a sharp looking barion that really didn’t spare rough weight: the initial rough was a 6+ carat oblong river-mined pebble. The choice was to either make a conventional 3 carat oval or a barion, but since colors like this in chrysoberyl tend to look phenomenal in sharp, straight, angular cuts, this particular barion design made more sense.
