Like most of our other royal blues, this one is also living practical proof that hand-picked fine quality “royal blue” doesn’t need to mean “dark” or “dim” at all – to the contrary, this stone’s brilliance can be compared with fine medium and even light blue sapphires. Royal blues can and do look amazing, but one has to be particular about picking the correct hues which often means erring towards the lighter end of that tonal range.
The crystal is of such clarity that it has a cold, crystalline brilliance to it that never goes away regardless of how the light changes – and its vividly saturated blue color and uncommon shape (particularly for this kind of very rare material) only add to its rarity and value.
We had it recut from 1.25 to remove an abrasion on the girdle and center its table and culet.
